Munich-based battery manufacturer bebob is expanding the adapter portfolio for B-mount batteries with a new model for the Sony VENICE cameras, versions 1 and 2. The COCO-VENICE allows for the operation of both cameras using B-mount batteries. The adapter is now available for a retail price of $1,297. Let’s take a closer look and see if this adapter is compatible with your VENICE.
Over the past few years, the Sony VENICE has emerged as one of the most popular high-end digital cameras. Recently, in November 2021, Sony unveiled the VENICE 2, which builds on the legacy of its predecessor and introduces some significant upgrades. You can read about the new Sony camera in this article, and I also highly recommend taking a look at our Lab Test.
The new COCO-VENICE battery adapter attaches directly to the AXS-R7 recorder on the back of the Sony VENICE camera 1 or 2. The camera power is supplied with 24V unreg. via the 4-pin XLR input. The adapter’s internal transformer guarantees the availability of both voltages-12V for the camera and certain accessories, as well as 24V for compatible accessories.
The entire camera system can run on a single B-mount battery, eliminating the need for additional batteries to power 24V accessories. Multiple accessories can be connected and powered through the D-Tap and other outputs, which can be controlled using an on-off switch with an LED display.
Another notable feature of the COCO-VENICE is its extra DC input, which is hot-swappable. In the event of low capacity in the B-Mount battery, the adapter can remain powered through the 3-pin XLR 24V input until the battery is replaced.
The benefits of B-mount batteries include 24-volt and dual-voltage capability and universal battery communication, compatible with cameras, lights and accessories from a range of manufacturers. The B-Mount interface allows all equipment on set to be powered by one battery system.
The COCO-VENICE B-mount Adapter is currently available at the recommended retail price of $1,297 or €1.179. For further information, visit the bebob website.
How do you prefer to power your VENICE? Will the bebob COCO-VENICE with B-mount batteries find its way into your rig? Please let us know in the comments below.
