Blackmagic Design announced the newest release of their popular editing suite DaVinci Resolve, bringing it up to version 18.1.4. This comes just one month after the last update, the details of which you can find in our article.
This update is again a smaller one but addresses some issues that might have slowed the workflow for some users. The loading times for timelines with a lot of markers have, for example, been significantly reduced.
The “Grab All Stills” process on the color page can now be canceled. Should you notice a clip needs to be altered once you have started running the tool, you can cancel the process, make the change and then continue grabbing a still from every clip on the timeline.
The creation date of a file will now be retained when using the proxy generator. The sync bin view now also uses the creation date. If the date was set incorrectly in the camera, it can now be manually updated on the media page.
Duration markers created from in-out ranges will now form on use, with the last set color as default. There is also improved audio performance when scrubbing in the sync bin.
The Resolve FX dehaze plugin will now have better performance when using DaVinci Wide Gamut.
The update also adds support for decoding ARRI RAW clips from black and white cameras directly into monochrome mode using DaVinci Resolve.
Further fixes and improvements include:
The update is available now for free on the Blackmagic Design support page. If you are thinking about upgrading, read our article on the topic first – you might find some helpful tips there.
