Carry Your Camera Comfortably with SPINN

Carrying your camera around your neck comfortably and safely, while still maintaining the ability to shoot quickly can be problematic. To solve this, the German company SPINN has just introduced a mounting bracket that attaches to the bottom of your camera. Let’s take a look at it!

Carrying Your Camera

There are two ways to carry a camera at the moment:

1. The traditional one via the eyelets neck strap connection. We’ve been doing it for ages, but the problem is that when you carry your camera that way, the camera screen rests on your body and you can scratch (or even worse break) it accidentally.
2. The more “recent” way to carry your camera consists of using the 1/4″ hole at the bottom of the camera. This avoids scratching your screen, but with only one point of contact, the camera is swinging around and you might get your lens to hit something.

The SPINN CP.01 is claiming to be the answer to these problems, and it’s similar to some solutions from Peak Design.

The SPINN CP.01 is a small plate with a 4-fold mount to locate the camera screw at various positions. The design is asymmetrical with two eyelets on each side. That way, the baseplate should fit nearly every camera on the market. At the bottom of the plate, there is an Arca-Swiss compatible dovetail.

The straps attach to the eyelets, so the straps don’t interfere with how you work with the camera. The distance of the holes leads the camera to perfectly lean against your body, without any wiggling nor damage done. Also, all controls and buttons of your camera remain fully and freely accessible without messing with your straps.

Finally, your camera shouldn’t bother you anymore when walking, hiking, cycling, or even climbing.

Pricing and Availability

The SPINN CP.01 comes with the baseplate and screw, an Allen wrench, a protective bag, and a SPINN heavy duty camera strap.

The Kickstarter campaign is already fully funded; the early-bird price is $85 or €74. The estimated start of shipment is early November.
