Chrosziel announced the Full Servo Drive Unit for FUJINON Premista zoom cinema lenses. The unit fits on all three lenses and offers three motors with a zoom rocker, and all the necessary connectors for remote operation, ENG, and EB work.
In case you missed it, FUJINON Premista is a line of three cinema zoom lenses for large sensor cameras. The Japanese company FUJIFILM first announced the Premista 28-100mm T2.9 and 80-250mm T2.9-3.5 lenses at NAB 2019. Last year in September, the company rounded up the offer with the wide-angle FUJINON Premista 19-45mm T2.9 lens.
The German camera accessories manufacturer Chrosziel based near Munich already created a Servo Zoom Control Kit for other lenses like the FUJINON MK zooms in the past. Recently, Chrosziel announced a new Full Servo Drive Unit for the FUJINON Premista cinema zoom lenses. Let’s take a short look at it.
As all three lenses from the Premista line feature the same position of the gear rings, the new Servo Drive Unit from Chrosziel can be used across all three of them. The unit offers a “Broadcast” (remote operation, ENG, and EB work) workflow for these large-format cinema zooms as it combines all components in one housing.
The unit houses three internal compact motors with 0.8 gears that provide enough torque to operate the gear rings of the Premista cine lenses. Chrosziel also included the Engage/Disengage mechanics for every motor to allow a free run of lens gears when needed. Motor positions are stored to ensure a fast startup after lens change or power failure. On top of the unit sits the obvious zoom rocker.
The unit has a mini USB port for software updates. The power comes in via Lemo 12-30V DC connector @ 3A. It can handle metadata provided by the lens (Cooke /i-data) and transfer them to broadcast compatible data formatting. The Chrosziel Servo Drive Unit features the following connectors (all located on the bottom side):
The price and availability of the Chrosziel Full Servo Drive Unit for FUJINON Premista has not been announced yet. We will update the article as soon as we get more info.
Did you work with FUJINON Premista already? How do you like the lenses? Let us know in the comments underneath the article.
