CineD continued their journey through NAB 2024 and interviewed Larry Seong and Jay from ClouZen, who gave us insight about their TAINER Portable Backup storage device. Let’s see what they told us!
ClouZen is a Korean company at NAB 2024 introducing TAINER, a new backup storage that offers different options and solutions to store our work and have peace of mind while working. The company targets this device at photographers and videographers who cannot bring or use their laptops to their workspace.
The TAINER by ClouZen is a portable solution with built-in CFexpress Type B/XQD and SDXC Card slots. With a weight of 198.4gms/7oz and a size of 10.59 x 7.4 x 2.38cm/4.17 x 2.92 x 0.94in, its X-Copy technology can copy data from memory cards at speeds of up to 400MB/s. The TAINER also features USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 and USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports that we can use to copy from our card readers and external hard drives or connect our computers and phones for cloud backup integration.
Regarding storage, we can use internal hard drives of up to 32TB, but for now, there are only 4TB and 2TB versions available. We can change the internal drive and install our own by unscrewing the two locks on the device. TAINER’s built-in SSD specification is SATA.
The TAINER has a verification function that checks the data stored bit by bit to ensure our files are backed up safely and without mistakes or overlapping. We can preview the clips and photos transferred in the unit’s 6cm/2.4in 320x 240 Color TFT display. We can preview the most popular file formats except H.265. That includes ProRes, XMF, Raw, JPEG, TIFF images, etc.
Finally, the TAINER has an internal 3500mAh battery lasting up to three hours with a charge time of 3 to 5 hours.
The TAINER is already available to buy. The basic model, without an internal SSD, sells at $445, and the 2TB model costs $625. For more information, please visit the product’s website.
