DigitalFoto’s YY100 is a compact 8W RGB light with a built-in battery and magnet. It offers CCT mode with 2500-8500K temperature and high CRI and TLCI, HSI full-color mode, and 10 effects. It is available now for $46.

The market segment of portable RGB lights with built-in batteries has been getting more and more saturated (pun intended) lately. They can often be handy for adding some final touches to a scene after the larger lights are in place. If you are in the market for such a light, you have multiple options – the obvious Aputure MC that is also available in 4- and 12-kits with a charging case, the Nanlite LitoLite 5C, or the Sunwayfoto FL-70 – just to name a few. The Chinese company DigitalFoto also already offers an RGB light with the YY150. Now, they have announced another (more affordable) RGB light – let’s take a look at the features and specs of the DigitalFoto YY100.

DigitalFoto YY100 RGB Light

The YY100 incorporates 66 LEDs (24 warm white, 24 cold white, and 18 RGB diodes) that can generate 8W output. According to DigitalFoto, the maximum luminance is 2000 lux at 0.3m and 229 Lux at 1m in CCT mode. In RGB it is, of course, much less. The built-in Li-Pol 3.7V 3000mAh battery can power the light for up to 1.5 hours (in 8500K on 100% brightness). It is 0-100% dimmable.

In CCT mode, the DigitalFoto YY100 offers 2500-8500K adjustable white light. According to DigitalFoto, the CRI of the light is 95 or higher and the TLCI value is 98 or higher. In HSI mode (Hue, Saturation, Intensity), the light provides 360-degrees full-color adjustment for 16 million different colors. Last but not least, there are 10 color effects included – police car, fast RGB, slow RGB, two different lightening modes, ambulance, fire truck, candlelight, SOS, and cinema mode (TV).

The DigitalFoto YY100 has two 1/4″ threads – one on the side and one at the bottom. There is a USB-C port for charging, an on/off switch and an adjustment dial wheel. At the back of the light, there is a 0.96″ OLED display that helps to navigate the menus and shows the current status and battery level. The light weighs 131g and its dimensions are 100 x 60 x 15mm. The chassis is made of aluminum to help dissipate heat and protect the internals. There is a built-in magnet within the light, so that it can be attached to metal surfaces.

Price and Availability

The DigitalFoto YY100 light is available now for $46, which is very affordable and indeed interesting. It comes with a white diffuser, a manual booklet, a simple cold shoe adapter (ball head would be better in my opinion), and a USB-C to USB-A charging cable.
