Edelkrone continues to innovate on both brand new as well as their existing products. This time around, the popular FlexTILT Head gets an upgrade, or rather a beefier version of the v3 line: The Edelkrone FlexTILT Head PRO supports up to 6.8 kg (15 lbs) and offers some additional useful features.
With the introduction of the FlexTILT Head v3 earlier this year (article here), Edelkrone has further refined its popular mini tripod head. A super compact solution for a variety of applications, Edelkrone’s FlexTILT Head has become quite popular over the years.
The FlexTILT Head works purely mechanically and requires no batteries (or -sometimes- dreaded apps) to extend a slider move, quickly adjust (and lock) a camera angle, or as a standalone tabletop tripod. Edelkrone has even introduced a 3D print-it-yourself version of the FlexTILT head.
But if you just need a little more meat on the bone, the newly introduced Edelkrone FlexTILT Head PRO might come in handy. Compared to the v3 head, the PRO version supports 2.7 times the payload: up to 15 lbs (6.8 kg).
The FlexTILT Head PRO offers the same features as the v3 version, but is equipped with additional locks to securely fix heavier camera packages in place.
The head offers up to 5.23 inches (13.3 cm) of height adjustment, and Edelkrone claims the dolly’s operating range can be extended by up to 6.7 inches (17 cm) when using a SliderPLUS v5 for example.
The complete set of features is as follows:
In its folded state, the head measures 4.5 x 4.5 x 2″ / 115 x 113.5 x 52 mm and it weighs 1.6 lb / 735 g. For comparison, the v3 version measures 4 x 3.3 x 1.06″ / 10.16 x 8.38 x 2.69 cm and weighs 15.8 oz / 449 g.
Of course, Edelkrone points out that the FelxTILT Head PRO perfectly accompanies other Edelkrone equipment, such as their popular range of sliders, but of course the head can also be used with other equipment, or you can use it as a convenient (and standalone) mini tripod.
The Edelkrone FlexTILT Head PRO will be available very soon and it sells for $189 (the v3 version sells for $99). Twice the price, but 2.7 times the payload – I think that’s a fair deal if you need the extra payload.
