FALCAM has just released a new F22/F38/F50 quick-release camera cage V2 for Sony A1/A7 series mirrorless cameras that allows quick and easy moving between all the companies’ receiver plates. This second version is available as a complete cage, or if you already have one, you can purchase only the new base plate. So let’s look at this new quick-release camera cage V2 system!
Chinese third-party accessory manufacturer FALCAM, which is part of the Ulanzi group, quickly made itself a good reputation amongst independent filmmakers for its affordable cages and the various F22, F38, and F50 quick-release systems.
These quick-release systems have various sizes and allow you to quickly build your camera rig and switch your camera from one device to another. The F22/F38 ecosystems are based on the Arca-Swiss standard, while the F50 is Manfrotto 501-style compatible.
To make things smoother, FALCAM has just released new camera cages for Sony A1 and A7-series mirrorless cameras that now feature all three mounts: F22/F38/F50.
The FALCAM F22/F38/F50 quick-release camera cage V2 is a full wrap-around cage made entirely of aluminum and weighs 206g/7.3oz. The cage is compatible with the Sony A1, the a7 III, a7R IV, and the Sony a7S III.
The cage features are similar to the previous version: it has one cold-shoe mount, multiple 1/4″-20 mounting points on all sides, and built-in F22 quick-release interfaces on the top, left, and right sides of the cage. The main difference between the V1 and V2 versions is the bottom plate.
As you can see in the video, the bottom plate V2 is now compatible with all FALCAM quick-release receivers: the F22, F38, and F50.
However, if you want your cage to be compatible with the recent F50 ecosystem, you don’t have to repurchase everything if you already purchased a FALCAM cage. Indeed, you can only buy the camera cage base V2 and do the swap yourself.
Also, it’s easy to see in the video that V2 F22/F38/F50 baseplates are coming for other FALCAM cages.
The FALCAM F22/F38/F50 quick-release camera cage V2 for Sony A1/A7-series mirrorless cameras is available now for $99.99. The baseplate V2 is available for $29.99.
