FilmConvert recently released a Camera Pack for RED’s entry-level cinema camera, the KOMODO 6K. Both FilmConvert Nitrate and CineMatch now support this camera model. The related Camera Pack is now available to download for free for all existing users.
It’s been a long time coming. After almost two years since the camera’s initial release, FilmConvert finally introduced their long-awaited Camera Pack for the RED KOMODO 6K.
Being a proud owner of this box-style cinema camera, I must admit I’ve never regretted my purchase. The camera’s global shutter sensor and internal REDCODE RAW recording are amazing features I can no longer live without. In case you missed it, you can also check out our KOMODO Lab Test here.
The RED KOMODO 6K is now supported by both FilmConvert Nitrate and CineMatch. These film emulsion and camera matching plug-ins really require no introduction. The company already offers a series of Camera Packs for older RED cameras. These include the RED One, Dragon, Helium Epic-W, and Helium Weapon.
Although the 2-year waiting period makes me wonder how long it will take before seeing a specific pack for RED’s new flagship camera, the V-RAPTOR, I hope the guys at FilmConvert did a meticulous job in fine-tuning their plug-ins. Indeed, if they are properly calibrated to the KOMODO’s sensor, they will allow you to save a ton of work in post.
The FilmConvert Camera Pack for RED KOMODO is now available to download for free for all existing users. FilmConvert users can download the new Camera Pack here, while CineMatch ones will need to install the latest version of the plug-in that is available on this page.
On the contrary, if you haven’t purchased these plug-ins yet, as a CineD reader you can benefit from a 20% discount on CineMatch. You can choose to purchase an individual license for Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or FCPX for $99 or the all-in-one bundle for $149.
