fylm.ai is a cloud-based platform that uses AI to simplify and speed up the color grading process, making it more accessible to a wider range of users. With the fylm.ai 2.1 update, they’ve now added a neural network-based, “color aware” film emulation tool called NeuralFilmAI, plus a slightly redesigned control tab and, of course, the bug fixes that come with any update. Let’s have a look!
Last October, fylm.ai added the NeuralToneAI tool to their platform, and in May, we wrote about update 2.0, which added Capture One ICC profiles and styles export, a revitalized AI Magic Mode, and improved handling of raw files. Now, fylm.ai has introduced NeuralFilmAI, an advanced AI-powered film emulation tool. The video below goes into depth on how to use it.
So how does it work, and what does it do? It’s helpful to note that unlike LUTs, which apply a fixed set of edits, this program analyzes each image individually, looking at the content and color information, and grades it accordingly. Then, after using what the company calls “smart” changes, it will give you five suggestions to choose from.
From there, you can non-destructively adjust the sample you’ve chosen using the Exposure, Contrast, White Balance, and Tint sliders to make it your own. You can also adjust film softness and grain. Once you’ve got the grading to where you want it, export it with one click as LUTs, XMP Profiles, or Capture One styles, or just save your high-res graded image.
Along with the new tool, fylm.ai has also streamlined the control tab and placed the AI tools in a separate category from the traditional ones.
Another item to be updated is the management process. When you add a new user, and they accept the invitation, they will be automatically assigned to the project you are currently working on.
Update 2.1 is automatically installed as soon as you reload the app. If you are new to fylm.ai and want to evaluate NeuralFilmAI and test out the other tools, you can do so for free by signing up on their website here.
What do you think about the NeuralFilmAI tool? Will you try it? Do you already use fylm.ai in your work? let us know in the comments!

A camera was put in my hands at 16, and I’ve been taking photographs ever since. An American, I’ve lived and worked in Vienna for many years both as a photographer and a photography teacher. Currently I am the photographer for the award-winning Nesterval immersive theater group. I’m a teller of stories. Stories hold my interest. I’ll take on any project with a story to tell.
