Hasselblad just introduced a new X-mount lens: the Hasselblad XCD 4/45P. This lightweight and compact glass is the “world’s lightest digital medium format autofocus lens in the market today,” according to Hasselblad. Let’s take a closer look at it!

The Hasselblad XCD 4/45P is the brands’ latest addition to its line of X-mount lenses. Indeed, it is compatible with their medium format cameras like the Hasselblad X1D II.

The XCD 4/45P has a focal length of 46.2mm (36mm Full-Frame equivalent) and an aperture of F/4. It is an excellent all-around autofocus lens option to keep on your camera at all times.
This tiny and compact autofocus lens is only 1.85in/47mm long for a weight of 0.7lbs/320g. The lens design consists of 9 elements in 7 groups with two aspherical elements. The minimum focusing distance is pretty small at only 13.8in/35cm, which is handy as an everyday lens. The front filter is 62mm.
If you are doing street photography, Hasselblad claims that “thanks to evolved designs, both the autofocus motor and leaf shutter have been reduced in audible noise.”

With the addition of the XCD 4/45P, the Hasselblad X-mount line of lenses now consist of ten lenses ranging from 21mm to 135mm.
The Hasselblad XCD 4/45P will be available at the end of this month for $1099.00/1199€. At the moment, it is the most affordable X-mount lens available, far beyond the XCD 45mm F/3.5, that retails for $2695.00.
What do you think of this new Hasselblad XCD 4/45P lens? Did you invest in the X-mount ecosystem to pair with your X1D II? Let us know in the comments below!
