Ikan, a US manufacturer based in Houston Texas, released new Low Profile LED studio panels for their existing Lyra studio light series. The slim LED lights come in two versions, the bi-color LBX8 for $729,99 and the daylight LWX8 for $679,99. Both can be pre-ordered now, so let’s have a closer look at them!
Ikan’s Lyra collection includes a variety of LED light panels, that create a soft light with a clean shadow. Lyra DMX lights provide in-studio lighting solutions and the more flexible battery-powered Lyra lights are for lighting ENG situations or while filming in the field. Single knob adjustable brightness and temperature control, combined with a clear LED settings readout, make Lyra LED soft light panels system an easy-to-use lighting solution for your video production.
But please keep in mind, Lyra LED light panels are designed for indoor use only! You should not use them for any outside shootings due to moisture restrictions.
The Ikan LBX8 and LWX8 are sleek and low profile lighting solutions designed to be installed in studios or indoor locations with very limited ceiling clearance. The 110-degree beam angle offers adequate coverage, and the sturdy yoke, with its tension knobs, allows for easy adjustments and secure placement at any angle.
The yellow control knob on the back of the panel which can be found on all Lyra LED panels makes it easy to adjust the light’s brightness and the DMX channels. The built-in barn doors offer integrated clips to add light modifiers. Baby 5/8″ and junior 1 1/8″ combo pin is compatible with all standard light stands.
If you are unfamiliar with DMX or haven’t used it before, DMX stands for Digital Multiplex. It is the standard digital communication protocol that is used to control intelligent lighting fixtures remotely. Originally created in 1986 the standard has continued to be used and developed as the standardized communication protocol for controlling intelligent lighting fixtures.
The expression “Intelligent lighting fixtures” covers a wide range of fixtures with varying aspects able to be controlled remotely from a console or a desk. From basic LED fixtures with color temperature or brightness to the more complicated fixtures for stage lights with movements and a large range of effects such as prism, gobo’s, color mixing and more.
Users can easily adjust the brightness on the fly by using the yellow single control knob on the back of the light panel. The small LED screen gives you a quick reference of the light’s output, color temperature and also DMX channel.
Using the included TVMP you can mount the light vertically to allow full-body lighting. To adjust the TVMP for vertical lighting the location screws have to be removed.
The slim LED lights come in two different versions and are now ready for preorder directly from Ikan’s website. The bi-color LBX8 for $729,99 and the day-light LWX8 for $679,99.
So, what do you think about the new Lyra Low Profile Studio panels? If you have a very limited ceiling clearance in your studio do you think this could be the perfect solution? Have you ever used Ikan Lyra lights before? Let us know in the comment section below.
