Insta360 users have a reason to celebrate. The company that’s been making 360° capture accessible to everyone has released a major update for their free desktop editing software, Insta360 Studio. This update offers a new design and layout, plus serious tools to streamline 360° editing, including combining multiple clips, multitasking, and adding music, text, and transitions. Creators can now produce polished 360° content directly from their desktops. Let’s take a look at the details!
Insta360 is a manufacturer of 360° cameras, providing options for content creators that include action cameras like the Insta360 Ace Series, the Go 3, or the X3, and more. These cameras will all benefit from this update, which brings some pretty major features to their desktop editing capabilities, including:
A new workflow is no longer needed when combining clips into a single edit. You can cut and merge them any way you like. To do this, start a new Project, add your clips to the timeline, and adjust the order and trim as you like. In addition, handling multiple edits is no longer an issue as you can switch between projects with a single click.
You can now add music, text, and transitions to your timeline.
Other additions to help speed up the workflow include:
The free update is available for Windows and macOS users and is compatible with all Insta360 consumer action cameras, including Insta360 Ace Pro and Ace, X3, ONE X2, RS, GO 3, GO 2, and more. You can download the update now from the Insta360 website.
Is this update a game-changer for you and something you have looked forward to? How will this change how you edit your 360° videos? Let us know in the comments below!

A camera was put in my hands at 16, and I’ve been taking photographs ever since. An American, I’ve lived and worked in Vienna for many years both as a photographer and a photography teacher. Currently I am the photographer for the award-winning Nesterval immersive theater group. I’m a teller of stories. Stories hold my interest. I’ll take on any project with a story to tell.
