In a world where filmmakers and filmmaking aren’t always met with welcoming arms, it’s a welcome change to see a unique project such as the One Day On Earth. The second 24-hour global filmmaking venture, One Day On Earth is the name of both the day of filming and the final feature that it will become.
The idea behind the film is this: one global day of 24 hour filming in every country in the world that will result in over 3,000 hours of footage. After this one day of global chronicling, the footage will be put together in its final form to be screened as it was created, all around the world on the exact same day in late February 2012. The project will bring together not only filmmakers from literally all over the planet to tell the story of the world, but also collaborates with the United Nations, and many non-profit organizations. “The film contains a message of hope, but also a strong call to action for positive change on issues that face both the global and local communities,” says Founder and Director of the One Day On Earth Kyle Ruddick.
