The most important mantra these days? Be open minded, try something new every day. In short: never stop learning! That’s why Blackmagic Design kicks off a so-called mobile classroom for their NLE/Audio/VFX/Color tool DaVinci Resolve. Five months worth of free training in over 35 cities, registration is now open.

Free software, paid training? Nope, this time we’re facing a free/free situation here. DaVinci Resolve in its base (yet already powerful) version comes free of charge and the upcoming roadshow comes with the same price tag: zero.
All you have to do is check the schedule below, make room in your calendar and register for a date. Each course takes place in a custom-built classroom, equipped with laptops fo the attendees. DaVinci Resolve along with media and training files is preinstalled on each machine.
The courses are being held by certified trainers and will cover the following topics:
Especially the last bullet point might reveal the true purpose of these events. Naturally, Blackmagic Design wants to strengthen its user base and spread the word by granting access to their tools, accompanied by the guidance of some skilled trainers to help you along the way. New users equal new sales for the paid Studio version of Resolve and maybe a grading panel with it. That’s the equation.
The registration to individual dates updates as the tour progresses. Right now, you can register for dates in France, Spain, Italy, Greece, and Turkey. If you happen to be in London on Jan 31st and/or Feb 1st, you can attend the kick-off event at BSC Expo, registration is open at the mobile classroom located outside the main entrance from 10 am each day.
If you’re interested you should keep a keen eye on the roadshow website for updates regarding more cities along the tour.
If you are located in one of the above cities I think it should be a no-brainer to attend. Free training? Why not? The whole thing will be heavily biased, obviously, but if DaVinci Resolve suits you, great! And even if it doesn’t, you’ve learned something new. see?
