LitePanels has announced the Gemini 1×1 Soft, a precision RGBWW LED soft light with all the features you love of the Gemini 2×1.
You can’t talk about Gemini, without talking about light quality. I’m not talking about physical materials and finishes here (all of which are very good) but the quality of the emitted light itself. In this regard, from my experience, LitePanels take the top spot for color accuracy when it comes to full color LED soft lights.
The Gemini 1×1 Soft offers a highly accurate full spectrum white light from 2700K to 10,000K with plus/minus green adjustment and delivers every hue in the 360° color wheel. It is also compact, light weight and easy to use in studio or on location.
Weighing only 5.31kg with a maximum power draw of 200W, the Gemini 1×1 Soft can be powered by mains AC or battery and retain similar light output.
My favorite thing when shooting under Gemini has always been how it renders such pleasing skin tones. The Gemini 2×1 also has a little more power than competing soft lights of the same size, and it seems the Gemini 1×1 Soft will outperform many other 1×1 panels in this regard. Just as with its larger sibling, it remains flicker free, and renders consistent color throughout the dimming range all the way from 0 to 100%.
Another plus point of Gemini has been ease of control. The new Gemini 1×1 Soft maintains this much loved feature placing everything at your fingertips. Of course DMX is on board as well as WiFi, and Wireless DMX is available via an optional module.
There are four lighting modes. CCT Mode for daylight and tungsten with fine tuning; HSI Mode (Hue, Saturation, Intensity) to create any color in the 360° spectrum; Gel Mode; and Effects Mode for creative lighting effects.
The Gemini 1×1 Soft enters an increasingly crowded space, as more and more full color LED soft lights are available at ever lower price points. However, where LitePanels have always set themselves apart has been a dedication to design and the quality of light their fixtures emit. In this sense the choices become far narrower. Smaller and lighter than the Gemini 2×1 but with an impressive punch, this is a highly flexible solution for location work.
Gemini 1×1 Soft is available immediately. The light is priced from $2,650, £1,950, €2,290, Â¥290,000. More information about Gemini 1×1 Soft can be found on the newly redesigned Litepanels website.
