We catch up with VR (or is it 360°???) filmmaker and photographer Drew Gardner in Cologne, Germany, during our visit to Photokina 2016.
In this episode of cinema5D On the Go, photographer turned filmmaker Drew Gardner tells us about the challenges of working in a time when fewer and fewer people are reading newspaper and watching “regular” television. When the smartphone has emerged as the main medium through which audiences consume content, this inevitably poses challenges to creative media producers out there.
With a long and fruitful career as a photojournalist, Drew Gardner has travelled all over the planet, and has exhibited his work around the world. In recent times, however, he has become increasingly interested in what VR, or 360° video, has to offer. He explains to us the difference between different VR video rigs (2 cameras? 4? 6? 7? Does it matter?), as well as his opinion of different 360° video camera solutions out there.
Make sure to stay tuned for the second and last part of our conversation with Drew in the next episode of cinema5D On the Go!
