Kondor Blue and Angelbird have teamed up to develop an interesting alternative to SSD recording for the new iPhone 15 Pro series, a recording module compatible with USB-C and Magsafe and available for CFexpress Type B and SD Cards.
As we keep mentioning in our latest articles, the advent of the iPhone 15 Pro series with its outstanding filmmaking capabilities, has opened the door for companies to launch all kinds of gadgets for Apple’s smartphones. If the rhythm continues, we can expect an exponential growth of filmmaking gear options for our iPhones in 2024.
Kondor Blue and Angelbird are well-known brands in the industry with a reputation for the quality of their products. Angelbird is an Austrian brand specializing in camera-specific media cards and storage solutions. (Watch our Angelbird factory Tour here). At the same time, Kondor Blue was founded in 2019 in Los Angeles and offers filmmakers a wide range of production accessories.
The Recording Module for Magsafe iPhone 15 is a versatile and powerful tool for smartphone shooters. It is compatible with a MagSafe mount and can be attached to the iPhone with a MagSafe-compatible case. The USB-C connection makes it compatible with any camera that has a USB-C recording option. (Also sold separately). Finally, the module has a ¼”-20 Mount with male/female options for ARRI standard 3mm anti-twist pins, expanding the mounting options.
In a recording module like this, we are looking at two essential features: speed and reliability. In this aspect, the recording module can reach speeds of 20 Gb/s in the CFexpress Type B and SD Cards versions, ensuring continuous recording even in the most demanding file formats. The magnet is also strong enough to stay attached to the phone, and it comes with two anti-slip rubber pads to reinforce stability.
The Recording Module for Magsafe iPhone 15 is available for pre-order now for CFexpress Type B and SD Cards in two versions, space blue and raven black, for $99.99. The module includes a 5” USB-C 3.2 right angle to straight angle cable and a 3-year warranty. For more information, please visit Kondor Blue’s product site here.
