The new Moment app update 3.5 has just been announced – focusing on filmmakers. The new, interesting pro video features include new color profiles (flat, LOG), a waveform monitor, RGB histogram, higher bitrates and better audio monitoring. It is currently available only for iOS; an Android version is coming soon.
Every smartphone video enthusiast knows that a good app is alpha and omega of getting good results. One of the best options out there is the FILMiC Pro app (check the FILMiC Pro review by my colleague Richard), which offers lots of useful pro video features.
Moment is rather known for their line of lenses, especially designed for smartphones, for example: their interesting anamorphic lens. They are, however, also offering a pro photo and video app, which just got very appealing to filmmakers because of the latest update.
The pro camera app from Moment is not brand new, but has been launched back in summer this year. It offered a variety of pro features with fully manual controls and got quite popular among photographers as inexpensive yet features-rich app. A couple of days ago, Moment announced a new, updated version 3.5 of their Moment app, with a handful of new pro video features. Here is a quick rundown of what is new:
The list of new features looks quite promising and that makes the Moment app a valid competitor to the current version of the FILMiC Pro app – in my opinion – when it comes to getting the best video performance out of a smartphone. All the new features are summed up quite nicely in the Moment app 3.5 promotional video:
The Moment app version 3.5 with new pro video features is currently available for iOS only. It will be coming to Android in mid or late December, so very soon. The basic version can be downloaded on iTunes for free, the pro version costs $5. Link here.
