The Moment Pro Camera app for the iPhone has gotten a major update, bringing several new features and enhancements to the popular app. The update introduces a new video engine, enhanced color space control, compatibility with Apple’s Log recording, ProRes codecs, reduced latency, and additional features. Let’s have a look.
Moment is known for their accessories as well as their popular iPhone/iPad pro-level manual camera app. The app is for both filmmakers and photographers and offers easy-to-use, full manual shutter speed, ISO, exposure, focus, and white balance control through sliders, with double taps to reset. Version 5.2 now offers some exciting new features that are directed towards the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.
The new update offers ProRes (Proxy, LT, 422, and HQ), Apple LOG, 48MP (ProRaw, JPEG, TIFF and HEIF), Dolby Vision 10-bit HDR, REC 2020, and P3 Color Gamuts. Directed specifically at iPhone 15 Pro users, the app offers finer control than the native in-phone app for photos and videos, according to Moment, especially if you want to take advantage of features like ProRes Log and 48 MP RAW photos. It looks like the Blackmagic app has some worthy competition.
There are several other enhancements aimed at streamlining the workflow in the Pro Camera update. Notably, improvements in video pipeline efficiency reduce the likelihood of dropped frames. Additionally, there is reduced latency when switching cameras, along with enhanced gallery stability and performance.
Moment’s Camera Pro is available in the Apple App store for $7.99. There are also two cool in-app purchases, namely a timelapse and slow-shutter mode. You can visit the Moment website here.

A camera was put in my hands at 16, and I’ve been taking photographs ever since. An American, I’ve lived and worked in Vienna for many years both as a photographer and a photography teacher. Currently I am the photographer for the award-winning Nesterval immersive theater group. I’m a teller of stories. Stories hold my interest. I’ll take on any project with a story to tell.
