Music Vine AutoClear Introduced – YouTube Copyrights Made Easy

Popular stock music service Music Vine has just released a new feature called AutoClear which automatically detects and releases copyright claims on YouTube videos within minutes of their occurrence. This feature is not yet available for their entire catalog, but Music Vine is working hard to include as many tracks as possible.

Content creators rejoice! Working with YouTube as your main distribution channel is both a blessing and a curse. Easy, free (at least in terms of hard coins), and scalable. That’s great. The downside, however, is that you have to be really careful about what you upload, especially in terms of background audio.

If YouTube’s algorithms detect copyrighted material, it’s up to you to prove that you have the appropriate rights to legally publish the tunes in question, even if you bought a license for that very reason. Music Vine AutoClear is a new feature that helps you do that. Automatically.

Music Vine AutoClear

Getting a so-called copyright strike is not exactly a fun thing. Even if you have the appropriate rights by purchasing a license, the video in question will remain locked until all the paperwork is done. Music Vine AutoClear is here to help. It takes care of these copyright claims automatically in the background, so you don’t have to. This approach doesn’t prevent a claim from happening, but AutoClear, well, clears it within minutes.

Music Vines take on this:

For supported tracks, our AutoClear system offers two solutions (see below) to automatically detect and release copyright claims on public YouTube videos. This means that copyright claims will initially occur but should be released within 15 minutes of a video going public (claims will remain present while a video is scheduled or set to private).

Music Vine provides two ways to achieve this: 1) whitelisting a YouTube channel or 2) AutoClear codes for specific videos. This is a good solution if, for example, you work with numerous clients and not just a single YouTube channel.

Whitelisting a specific YouTube channel

For this approach, you need to add your desired YouTube channel within your Music Vine account under “AutoClear Channel Whitelist”. From now on, any copyright claim will be handled and resolved automatically by Music Vine AutoClear. Note: You must have made at least one purchase on Music Vine to use AutoClear Whitelist.

Since not every track available on Music Vine is covered by this new AutoClear feature, you may still have to settle claims the old way, by presenting your license. But Music Vine seems to be working hard to add as many tracks as possible to support this new and very handy feature. But it’s not entirely up to them, as they have to negotiate with artists and record labels in this regard.

AutoClear specific videos

The second approach is to use unique, so-called AutoClear codes that can be embedded in the video’s description. I’ll let Music Vine explain how this works:

The AutoClear code can simply be included in the description of the YouTube video (it’s important to do this before the video is published) and copyright claims will then be automatically released, usually within 15 minutes of occurring. Note that AutoClear codes are unique to each track license, and a single code works only for a single video.

Subscription customers can obtain AutoClear codes by clicking the ‘Generate AutoClear Code’ button that appears after licensing supported tracks. For Pay-Per-Use licenses, AutoClear codes can be generated by clicking the icon in the Order Summary.

Pricing

The new feature is free, but of course you have to pay for the licenses of the music you use from Music Vine. They offer both a pay-per-use and subscription-based payment model. Choose what fits your workflow best.

When browsing the Music Vine catalog, each track covered by this new AutoClear feature can be identified by a small green circular tick icon next to the track.
