I checked out most of the dslr rig booths at NAB and the gear from this 2 month old company really caught my attention. I tried to get lots of B-roll into that clip to give you a better feel of the outstanding engineering quality of their products.
This is the first follow focus I’ve ever tried that simply didn’t have any play. None. It has adjustable friction and can be set hard and also very very loose. It felt very high end and I thought the price of $800 was definitely justified. The complete kit, including Mattebox with two filter stages is said to be $2100.Not only is the quality right, but also the design seems good. No fancy stuff, a few good knobs here and there. This one will work and you should definitely check it out in case you’re looking for a good rig.
There are much more affordable products on the market, but when you’re entering quality at this grade you usually have to toss a lot more coin, so I’m positively surprised. I suggest you wait until we’ve thoroughly tested this rig. We will have a complete set shipped over for testing very soon.
They don’t have a website yet, stay tuned for more info on Koll Ltd.
