Once your feature film or documentary is finished, a critical step for production companies is to make it available to content providers like Netflix, iTunes, Amazon Prime, HBO, and so on. This crucial step in the distribution process can be complicated and very expensive, but a company like Ownzones can help you with that. Whether you’re an independent filmmaker or a big production company, getting your film to the right platforms in the proper format has never been easier. Let’s take a closer look at it!
Ownzones is a company that specializes in content distribution with its in-house cloud-native supply chain solution. I’ll try to sum up the concept and make it simple to understand. Once your feature film, documentary, or any movie that you made is complete, you need to get it out so people can watch it. If you want to get your film to content providers such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Amazon Prime, iTunes…etc., you need to upload it to their platforms via the cloud.
Unfortunately for you, each platform has a different format, resolution, export settings requirements, and it can be extremely long to do each version for each content provider. Also, it can take you a long time to know where you need to upload your film.

Ownzones is an OTT platform – an Over-The-Top media service – which is here to simplify your (or the production company’s) life. The concept is that you only upload your master file to one place, and Ownzones takes care of the rest. It can transform and deliver your movies in multiple formats, from ProRes to IMF. Also, it makes your life easier because you can choose your content’s final destination directly on the platform. Quality controls are made so you can make sure that your content fulfills all the needs of the content provider.
If you want to go the independent way, you can also set up your streaming platform via Ownzones. The streaming apps allow you to track and collect user data and analytics.
Of course, Ownzones is not for everybody. If you have dozens of titles to upload each year, it will make more sense for you to use a service like Ownzones than if you have only had one film to upload. It works on a pay-as-you-go system, but this kind of service is usually not on the cheap end, but it will definitely make sense “in bulk”. However, it can save you a lot of time to get your film out to the distribution platforms correctly.
What do you think about Ownzones? Did you ever use an OTT platform in the past? Let us know in the comments below!
