The new EVA1 firmware 2.0 is finally here. We’ve met with Panasonic’s Mitch Gross here at NAB 2018 who runs you through all the new features of the Panasonic EVA1 cine camera.
This firmware upgrade transforms the already very popular EVA1 camera into a whole new device. Read all about this update in our already published article here. Mitch Gross of Panasonic talks you through the whole thing – and it’s really a lot!
In order to get you up to speed, here is a list af all new recording formats the Panasonic EVA1 camera is capable of once it’s upgrades to firmware version 2.0:
ALL-Intra codecs 4:2:2 10bits

As a final addition to this firmware update, Panasonic and Atomos have joined forces to enable RAW recording on Atomos monitors/recorders. In 4K you can either record to Apple ProRes / Avid DNxHR in up to 60fps or straight to CDNG RAW at up to 2Kp120 or 4Kp30. Slow motion, anyone? The Shogun Inferno can record the RAW output of the EVA1 at up to 240fps in 2k/HD, direct to Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHR.
The upgrade to version 2.0 is free of charge and you can download it right away. Head over to Panasonic in order to get your copy. If you’re unsure how to install the upgrade, please make sure to read this manual (PDF) for a safe and sound update process.
