The Peak Design Travel Tripod was first announced in May 2019 and, as usual for new Peak Design products, it was offered through Kickstarter. You can read more about the unique tripod in our previous article. In the course of the crowdfunding campaign, with over $12M from over 27.000 backers it became one of the most successful Kickstarter projects ever. Since then the company was busy fine-tuning the tripod and sending the units to their KS backers.
Now Peak Design announced they are launching the Travel Tripod globally for standard retail on April 7th. The company also announced that for the first four days of the tripod sale, they will be donating 100% of tripod profits to coronavirus relief (via the CDC Foundation) and fighting climate change (via Climate Neutral).
Last but not least, Peak Design started a Photo + Film Festival called Stay-at-Home. PD is announcing the topics at their Instagram. The current topic is “time”. The created movies should be kept to 60 seconds or less and should be posted on Instagram while tagging Peak Design and using the hashtag #PDstayathomeTime. Submit by Sunday, April 5th.

The videos must be created in the house (or the yard). They can’t be a repost of earlier work. Showing process or explaining more in the caption is great (but not required). Prizes are Peak Design gift cards (1st: $600, 2nd: $200, 3rd: $100).
