Pomfort is known in the industry for their software solutions on set – for example, Livegrade Studio for multi-camera productions, and Silverstack Lab for media asset management. Now, Pomfort have released a new software application in Beta – Reeltime Pro. The application offers instant on-set video playback for all creatives involved in your film production, and you can download it for free. Let’s have a look at this new software solution!
Reeltime Pro lets playback operators provide instant video feedback to the creatives on set. The slot concept allows for optimized streamlined interaction across all common use cases and provides a wide range of configuration and routing options. Using Apple silicon architecture, Pomfort claims that it is a reliable powerhouse in challenging production environments.
There is a robust routing and compositing engine alongside several window layout options. Moreover, auto-record configurations can be applied to capture live signals from a single camera or to record group recordings from multiple inputs. This includes synced audio signals. Plus, users can customize output displays with multiple live and playback feeds, diverse layouts, and video filters that support the various roles on a set.
Reeltime Pro uses a central user interface designed around slots – a concept adopted and modified from the Livegrade Studio program. Live and playback signals can be managed and routed to different destinations, and actions are smooth and easily traceable. The program offers different slot types and modes, which let you present single or multiple live and playback signals, compare signals using various layouts, add filters or composites to personalize views, and more.
Reeltime Pro boosts productivity through intelligent clip control and automation functions. The auto-record feature is activated by the record flag in SDI signals to ensure no recordings are missed. If you’re using multiple cameras, you can easily create synchronized group recordings. Mark specific sections for playback by setting in and out points during recording, allowing you to focus on the relevant parts.
Reeltime Pro offers a selection of flexible window layouts according to the user’s needs, including multi-view window layout options. For example, you might use a library multi-view layout to compare clips in your library, or an output slots’ multi-view layout to check all outgoing signals and see what is currently being presented to each individual in the team.
All of your recordings can be organized in a clip library, which features personalized table layouts making it easy to swiftly retrieve clips. Search the library using text, clip ratings, or flags. In detail view, you can track and edit shot metadata for either single or multiple clips. Global metadata can be easily edited and applied to multiple clips all in one step, and with the ‘smart groups’ concept, clips can also be organized using an outline assembled by metadata. The skimming feature allows users to review specific actions within clips.
Reeltime Pro is designed to work seamlessly with external control devices such as the Stream Deck and supports AJA and Blackmagic Video I/O devices and SDI Video routers. Furthermore, video signal management is made easy with the router control panel, enabling the creation of multiple video routing setups that can be controlled via the Stream Deck or on automation based on a specific event.
Pomfort’s Reeltime Pro is available as a free Beta trial and can be downloaded directly from their website.

A camera was put in my hands at 16, and I’ve been taking photographs ever since. An American, I’ve lived and worked in Vienna for many years both as a photographer and a photography teacher. Currently I am the photographer for the award-winning Nesterval immersive theater group. I’m a teller of stories. Stories hold my interest. I’ll take on any project with a story to tell.
