The Relio² LED light has become a favorite among filmmakers. For 2020 Relio is launching the Relio² Studio Edition kit for cinematographers.
The Relio² may be small, but it’s very bright for its size and is one of the most accurate LED light sources money can buy. Relio² has even made the list of Philip Bloom’s Best Camera Gear of 2019. We reported on the Relio² back in May 2019, and for 2020 Relio is launching the Relio² Studio Edition kit for cinematographers.
In case you missed it, the Relio² is an ultra compact, ultra high CRI LED light source designed to produce a spectrally accurate, even beam of light for a wide range of applications. It’s great for filmmakers but also used for scientific purposes, and even as a light source for restoration of priceless paintings. The Relio² accommodates a wide range of accessories that make it useful as a single small source for macro work, or to add some spectral highlights on a tabletop subject. They can be used in numbers placed around a set to light larger areas with small multi point sources.
Relio have created a new beautifully warm 2700K tungsten version that manages an impressive 98.5 TLCI. This warm light is perfect for bringing attention to details.
The tiny 35mm x 35mm cubes have a unique magnetic mount for optical attachments that shape and control the beam in different ways. A range of attachments are available including a cross polarization system that works with a camera lens mounted polarizer to control of reflections and glare. Relio² really is a swiss army knife lighting tool. Wireless control via an app makes it easy to adjust the intensity of every Relio² unit in use.
A new six way power adapter for NP-F batteries provides six USB power ports that can power multiple Relio² units.
Relio² has launched the 2020 Studio Edition on Kickstarter with some attractive early bird discounts. The Studio Edition comes in the form of two kits, with either three lights or six lights. The Three light kit is the standard Relio² Studio Edition, comprising three lights, mounting rod and a full suite of accessories in a laser etched black wood box. The six-light kit is a limited edition only kit in a special laser-etched natural wood box.
If you’re interested in making a set of these versatile and highly accurate LED light sources a part of your kit, now is a great time to take advantage of the early bird Kickstarter discount. Head over to the Kickstarter page to find out more.
Do you already use the Relio² lights? We’d love to know what you think of them. Let us know in the comments.
