Storage options were trendy during CES 2020, and SanDisk just revealed two new products: the SanDisk 1TB Ultra Dual Drive and an impressive 8TB external SSD prototype. Let’s take a closer look at it!

SanDisk, which is part of the Western Digital group, introduced the SanDisk 1TB Ultra Dual Drive Luxe USB Flash Drive. The USB Type-C interface is getting more adopted in new products very fast, but if you still own USB-A equipment, this thumb drive can be a lovely addition to your keychain. Indeed, it features a dual USB connectivity: on one side, there is a USB Type-C connector, and if you flip it 180°, there is a traditional USB Type-A connector. The design of the SanDisk 1TB Ultra Dual Drive Luxe is smart.
On the inside, they are using the USB 3.1 Gen 1 protocol, with reading speeds of up to 150MB/s, according to SanDisk. Also, thanks to the SanDisk Memory zone app, you can plug the SanDisk 1TB Ultra Dual Drive Luxe directly to your phone and backup all your essential files.
This thumb drive is entirely made of metal to endure your day-to-day life. The swivel design should protect the drives connectors when you are on the move.

SanDisk also showcased the “world’s highest capacity, pocket-sized” 8TB portable SSD. The first noticeable thing is the size of this external SSD, toping at 8TB, offers four times more capacity compared to SanDisk’s current largest portable SSD at 2TB.
Also, this drive uses the SuperSpeed USB 20Gbps protocol, which should lead to incredible transfer speeds, way beyond 1GB/s. For creative professionals and filmmakers, this drive could be a game-changer in the field. Otherwise, this impressive portable SSD is still in the prototype stage, and it will undoubtedly won’t be a bargain if it ever comes out. (We are sure it will in one way or another.)

The SanDisk 1TB Ultra Dual Drive Luxe is available now. Six versions are available, with capacity ranging from 32GB for a price of $10.99, up to 1TB for $249.99.
