American smartphone accessory manufacturer SANDMARC has released a new lens for iPhone content creators: the Telephoto 6x lens. This lens is compatible with every iPhone, and if you use it with the iPhone 14 Pro or 15/15 Pro and their stock 24mm lens, you’ll get the equivalent of a 144mm lens. So, let’s take a closer look at it!
SANDMARC is a San Diego-based company that specializes in smartphone accessories for content creators. Over the years, the company has built a solid lineup of lenses for iPhone smartphones. Indeed, we already reported about their 58mm telephoto, the 100mm macro, and the most recent microscope lens with a 40x magnification.
This time, SANDMARC is back with one of their longest lenses, both physically and in terms of focal length: the Telephoto 6x.
The SANDMARC Telephoto 6x lens is a relatively long third-party lens with a length of 119mm/4.68in and a diameter of 37mm. Compatible with all iPhone models, this lens attaches to the back of SANDMARC cases.
If you have an iPhone 14 Pro/15/15 Pro, there are multiple advantages of using this lens compared to the built-in 3x telephoto lens. First of all, if you screw the Telephoto 6x to the front of your iPhone’s primary camera, you can capture photos in the full 48MP resolution, compared to 12MP if you use the 3x telephoto lens.
Next on the list, obviously, is that you’ll have a longer range and shallower depth of field. If you want to go all-in, you can even attach the Telephoto 6x lens in front of the iPhone 3x telephoto lens.
You’ll find a dedicated focus ring at the front of this Telephoto 6x lens, a premiere for a SANDMARC lens. To take full advantage of it, you must enable Macro Control, and SANDMARC has a tutorial video for it here. Also, please keep in mind that the minimum focusing distance is 16ft/4.87m.
The SANDMARC Telephoto 6x lens is available for preorder now for $145 for the lens only and $159.99 for the lens and a case for your specific iPhone model. In the box, you’ll also find a lens pouch and front/back lens caps. All products should start shipping in mid-March 2024.
For more information, please visit SANDMARC’s website here.
What do you think about this Telephoto 6x lens? Do you often feel like the 3x zoom on the iPhone is not enough for your needs? Have you already shot content with SANDMARC lenses? Don’t hesitate to let us know in the comments below!
