SANDMARC have just released a new version of their Pro Edition tripod for iPhone/Smartphone photographers and filmmakers: the SANDMARC Tripod Carbon Edition. As its name suggests, this version is made of carbon fiber, so it’s lighter than the aluminum one while maintaining the same 6kg/13.23 lbs payload capacity. So let’s take a closer look at this compact support solution for content creators on the go!

San Diago-based manufacturer SANDMARC specializes in photo and video gear for smartphones, iPhones, GoPro and DSLR/Cinema cameras. We recently reported about their handy 58mm add-on telephoto lens that goes in front of your iPhone’s built-in cameras.

Last year, the company released two travel-friendly and lightweight tripods for iPhone shooters. The company went one step further in weight reduction with this new Carbon Edition of the SANDMARC tripod.

SANDMARC Tripod Carbon Edition features

The SANDMARC tripod is a very compact support solution that only measures 39cm/15.35″ when folded for a weight of 1.03kg/2.28 lbs. The legs have three sections and there is also a center column. All four sections feature twist-locking collars, so you can quickly reach a maximum height of 161cm/63.4in.

At the bottom of the center column, you’ll find a small hook that allows you to attach your bag or a counterweight for extra tripod stability.

On top of the center column is a ball head that makes shooting in landscape or portrait mode a quick change. Of course, this ball head is only suitable for static shots and won’t be smooth enough for pan/tilt moves.

The SANDMARC Tripod comes with an extendable smartphone mount compatible with all iPhone models and most Android smartphones. Also, you can remove the smartphone mount and use the tripod with most DSLR/mirrorless cameras, thanks to a maximum payload capacity of 6kg/13.23 lbs.

Price and availability

The SANDMARC Tripod Carbon Edition is available for pre-order now for $299 and should start shipping in March 2023. If we make a direct comparison, the convenient Benro MeFOTO RoadTrip Pro Carbon Fiber Series 1 that has similar features but is heavier and also retails for $299.
