SmallHD is back in business and they do it with a bang! Their flagship Cine 7 on-camera monitors receive a price drop and SmallHD even ships them with either the (formerly paid) ARRI and/or RED control software, for free.

The SmallHD Cine 7 monitor is a pro monitor, designed for serious production work. Therefore it sports pro-priced software addons for both ARRI and RED cine cameras. These upgrades used to come with a hefty price tag but not anymore! You can choose between different bundles for pretty significant discounts over at smallHD.com. Also make sure to give our previous coverage of the Cine 7 monitor a read here and here.
There are four bundles available right now. All four feature the Cine 7 monitor itself, of course, they differ in terms of camera control capabilities and in terms of battery plates. So you’ve got the choice between The ARRI bundle, which includes the ARRI control software upgrade and all the cables you need for connecting to a compatible ARRI cine camera and the RED kit, which obviously includes the RED control software plus all the cables plus a micro USB to Lemo 5-Pin adapter (necessary for connecting the Cine 7 to a compatible RED cine camera).

These software upgrades used to cost between $400 and $500, so that’s a pretty good deal right there. Furthermore SmallHD has slashed the prices on the Cine 7 monitor itself, so as a result you save almost $900 when getting one of these bundles.
If you can’t really decide which one of the two you might need (or you just want to control both types of cameras), there are two more bundles available: The so-called Cine 7 Deluxe Camera Control Kit in both Gold mount and V-Mount versions.

These two bundles differ only in the battery plate they come with: Your choice of either Gold mount or V-mount. Everything else is included: All the cables needed, both software upgrades (ARRI and RED), a sun hood, an 8GB SD card and a hard case.
Both bundles with either the ARRI upgrade or the RED upgrade is available for $1,499, both deluxe branded kits clock it at $1,899 (that’s a $1,300 discount). Our partner B&H still lists these kits at slightly higher prices but I guess they’ll update them soon. You can check out all the details over at smallHD.com.
