SmallHD has announced a firmware update to their DP7-PRO line of monitors that amongst a few bug fixes adds a nice little feature, on-screen audio meters.

Having the ability to view audio meter overlays that are separate from ones in-built to the camera is very handy. It means you can monitor audio externally whilst recording a clean source from the same output.
There are also often times where you share the video output from the camera with other people (director, client etc.), so this is a great way of cleanly viewing your meters without the additional clutter that in-camera overlays often provide.
The DP7-PRO line is SmallHDs flagship range of monitors, offering LCD and OLED options as well as a fantastic High Bright display for exterior use without a sunhood. Other nice features include LUT displays and custom LUT support, SDI/HDMI cross conversions and hot key assignable buttons; the latter of which the new audio meters function works very well with.
Firmware version 3.1.1 is available for download now.
