Sony adds the new FE 50mm F/2.8 full frame macro lens to its E-mount line up.
The FE 50mm F/2.8 macro lens is the latest lens in a range of releases from Sony, adding an affordable, high quality lens for full frame shooters using the E-mount system.
With a minimum focus distance of 16cm, but a wider focal length compared to other macro lenses, this lens offers versatility while shooting a macro, portrait or even landscape. It weighs in at only 236g.
The lens features a focus range limiter, focus mode switch and focus hold, and 1:1 macro capability. The Sony 50mm Macro F/2.8 lens offers sharp and bright images with reduced axial chromatic aberration from the extra low dispersion glass used in the build.
The Sony 50mm Macro F/2.8 lens will be available to purchase in Europe in October for a suggested retail price of €660.00, (£500.00), and a street price of $498.00 in the US: you can pre-order from B&H from the 1st of September.
Check out the release from Sony here. Hopefully a unit will be available at IBC for us to check out, so watch this space. Are you looking for a full frame macro lens, and would this fit your needs? Let us know in the comments.
