An image has been leaked of a likely third instalment to the Sony FS line. The camera branded by Sony Rumors as the FS700II will be a 4K internal camera and will be announced at IBCÂ later this month.
Rumor sites should always be taken with a pinch of salt, and we are certainly not one. However after an image appeared of the aforementioned camera on reputable site Sony Rumors with a CR rating of 5 (articles rated 1-5 on a basis of legitimacy, 5 being ‘almost certainly correct’) we felt it worth bringing to your attention.
There’s been talk of such a camera from Sony for some time. Billed as a C100/C300 killer (who coins these terms?) The Sony FS700II is a 4K and will be an E-mount camera.
It’s likely to share as many resemblances to the F55 as it is the FS700; Sony Rumors suggest it may even go as far as the same sensor, resolution and codec.
Judging from the picture (if it is indeed official), we can see it’ll support 4K resolution, XQD cards and the XAVC codec, the latter a likely feature in any such camera from Sony.
Price as with everything connected to this camera is speculative, but we could see another sub $10k camera here.
The button configuration on the camera looks pretty standard for Sony, 2-channel audio, exposure, menu, S&Q etc. There’s an ND wheel on the end just like the F55, which is nice to see.
It’s likely if such a camera exists we’ll likely see it announced at IBCÂ later this month.
