Tilta has announced the Tilta Camera Cage for DJI Ronin 4D Flex. This Camera Cage provides shooters with expanded options for the 4D Flex – it allows for heavier lenses and a more traditional studio setup. However, it does lock the gimbal in place. The Camera Cage is available for pre-order now, priced between $199 and $339.
DJI announced the 4D Flex system for the DJI Ronin 4D this past March. Check out our article DJI Ronin 4D Flex Tether System Announced for information about this incredible camera system.
The DJI Ronin 4D Flex allows you to separate and tether the camera head from the camera brain. The idea is to have a lightweight setup for a handheld work gimbal with the camera’s brain connected nearby.
The Ronin 4D Flex Cage by Tilta features multiple mounting points to the camera body, which provide improved security for your camera and accessories. This Cage, in turn, allows for heavier lenses, FIZ motors, and additional accessory mounting options with cold shoe receivers, NATO rails, and 1/4″-20 threads with locating pins.
This system locks the gimbal in place, eliminating one of the core benefits of using the DJI Ronin 4D. The integrated quick-release brackets, however, allow for fast setup changes. Theoretically, this should make going from handheld to studio setups and back a breeze.
Using the Tilta Camera Cage with the Ronin 4D increases the camera’s compatibility with existing Tilta accessories such as the Tilta Float Handheld Support System, Tilta Float Handheld Gimbal Support System, and Tilta Hermit POV Support System.
The cold shoe receivers, NATO rails, and 1/4″-20 threads also open up compatibly with Tilta’s long list of mounting accessories. With this, shooters can really rig their Ronin 4D cameras any way they see fit.
Tilta offers the full Camera Cage for the 4D Flex with ala carte accessories or as a Basic Kit.
By itself, the Full Camera Cage for DJI Ronin 4D Flex includes 2x 250mm length 15mm aluminum rods, a Manfrotto quick release and support plate, a 15mm rod support holder, and lens adapter support.
The Tilta Ronin 4D Flex Cage Basic Kit includes an additional 15mm LWS baseplate and Tilta top handle for the Ronin 4D.
Full Camera Cage for DJI Ronin 4D Flex costs $199, and the Tilta Camera Cage for DJI Ronin 4D Flex costs $339. Both are available to pre-order now on Tilta’s site. Tilta is currently offering an additional 10% off discount.
