This is a quick update for all of you who are eagerly waiting for your Kinefinity MAVO Edge camera to finally arrive.. well, you’ll have to wait a little longer, I’m afraid.
The brand new Kiniefinity MAVO Edge 8K camera should be here by now. But it isn’t. The company officially announced it back in April 2020 during our Virtual Show. Since then, there have been a few updates and here comes another one that you might not want to hear: Shipping of the Kinefinity MAVO Edge is delayed a bit more, this time to the end of February.
If you follow the Kiniefinity Cinema Cameras group over on Facebook, you’ll know that the MAVO Edge has already been delayed due to the manufacturer’s development efforts. They simply don’t want to launch a product that isn’t ready for prime time, and that’s fine.
However, this latest update states a delay to an already delayed November 2020 ship date, so the delays are still stacking up a bit here.
Sadly I have to announce that we are facing another 3-4 weeks of delay, before we see the first demo units, because the manufacturer has not yet been able to solve all the difficulties which presented themselves in the development of the MAVO Edge so far. Shipping of the first production units to end users may not happen before end of February.Michel Juknat – Kinefinity Facebook group
Sadly I have to announce that we are facing another 3-4 weeks of delay, before we see the first demo units, because the manufacturer has not yet been able to solve all the difficulties which presented themselves in the development of the MAVO Edge so far. Shipping of the first production units to end users may not happen before end of February.
Of course, we know that Kinefinity is a relatively small company that doesn’t have the resources for excessive field testing before each product release, and I’m glad they will only ship products that meet their QC standards. There were problems with early MAVO LF units and it’s very understandable that the company wants to avoid something like that ever happening again.
Still, delaying a product launch only to postpone it again and again is, of course, not something you like to see as a customer. Let’s hope that when the delivery truck finally pulls up and you hold your shiny MAVO Edge in your hands, it performs exactly as expected. When it does, all delays will be forgotten, I’m sure!
For additional specs and thoughts on the camera itself, please make sure to watch our Virtual Show episode along with the accompanying article here.
