Canadian manufacturer SHAPE recently launched a new VESA monitor mount compatible with 13-24″ monitors, that features their patent-pended Push-Button system that allows you to adjust the display’s tilt angle quickly. So let’s take a closer look at this sturdy little accessory that can save you time on set!
One of the most common issues regarding production monitors is mounting them on a light or C-stand. Indeed, while these large monitors feature built-in feet, they are tiny and not always ideal in real-life shooting scenarios.
So the most straightforward workaround for this common issue is to use a third-party VESA monitor mount. Indeed, you’ll find VESA 75×75 or 100×100 holes at the back of most production monitors. These VESA mounting points give you a large weight repartition to securely attach a display on a light stand.
Canadian third-party accessories manufacturer SHAPE is well-known for its rigging accessories and cages, but most of all, for its patent-pended Push Button technology for handles and accessories. SHAPE is now expanding its lineup of products and implementing the Push Button technology to another kind of accessory: a VESA monitor mount for C-stand and Baby Pin.
The SHAPE Push Button VESA monitor mount is an add-on accessory that attaches at the back of every monitor with VESA 75×75 or 100×100 mounting holes.
The monitor mount is entirely made out of aluminum. According to SHAPE, it can carry many different production monitors from 13″ to 24″, including Sony, SmallHD 4K, Atomos Neon & SUMO Pro monitors and more.
This VESA monitor mount features a 5/8″ baby pin opening which is also C-stand compatible. Once your production monitor is mounted onto a light stand, you can still rotate it 360° on the pan axis. A ratcheting knob allows you to lock the rotation. Lastly, there is a safety pin, so you can’t remove your monitor from the light stand without pushing that pin.
Regarding the tilt axis, you can adjust the viewing angle of your production from -30° to +90°, which is quite generous. There are two ways to adjust the tilt angle: the red Push Button on the left and the friction/locking knob on the right.
The Push Button lets you quickly fully unlock the tilt axis and roughly get your monitor where you want it. Then, you can still fine-tune the viewing angle slightly. Lastly, when you’re happy with your final position, turn the locking knob, and you’re ready to go!
The SHAPE Push Button VESA monitor mount is available now for $298/€349.
