Tokina has announced a new 16-38mm f2.8 full frame Zoom Lens. The “Tulip” style front hood is fixed and there is no filter thread for this zoom. Tokina are some of my favorite zoom lenses. They have an outer ring that when pulled down from automatic to manual gives the user hard stop end points. This is a very useful feature for shooting video with HDSLR’s. Tokina zooms also have a similar color temperature to Zeiss primes. The new 16-28mm f2.8 will be available in Nikon mount by August with an additional EF model available this September. Estimated retail price is $1400 US.
